It looks as though Obama will win...
...and Americans seem intent on abandoning the economic system that has produced the highest standard of living and the greatest prosperity in the history of the planet. I don't say it's without problems. There are good times and bad. However, in the overall sense, our economy has produced a more prosperous society than has ever been seen before. Obama is a socialist. He believes in the redistribution of wealth through taxes and social programs. He has said so himself, so I won't belabor that point. However, we need to ask ourselves this question: Have we ever seen an economically strong socialist country? I can't remember one. The Soviet Union couldn't feed its own people. The Chinese have engaged in population control measures that can only be called draconian and they still have trouble feeding themselves and still managing to compete in world economic circles, especially in areas of quality control. Also, socialist governemnts in the 20th century were responsible for well over 100,000,000 deaths, so there's a moral dimension as well. So, I leave this election cycle with a vote for a cause that's foreordained to fail and look for my future activity to the advice of Dylan Thomas:
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
If nothing else, I will rage against the dying of the light...

You can't honestly believe that Socialist BS can you...
I like to think my education and professional training have put me in a position to recognize political positions that are socialistic when I see them. When the Chosen One talks about spreading the wealth around, he's talking about taking from some and giving to others. I believe it goes like this: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." That's directly from Karl Marx in 1847's Communist Manifesto. What I don't get is this: Why does anyone have a right to money that someone else earns?
So you don't believe in welfare then? or Medicaid? Both programs that take your tax money and give them to low income people.
Also, I agree you may have been more specialized in what you studied in school pertaining to this issue than I. But starting off an argument with the sentence "I like to think my education and profession training have .... " makes you sound like an arrogant ass.
There are so many things hypocritical about you calling Obama socialist its not even funny.
Also, since you like many of the other Natureboys will be receiving a bigger tax break if Obama wins, I urge you to figure out how much more money Obama's plan got you back over McCain and give it back to the federal government. Since you don't believe in it, wouldn't it be hypocritical to keep that money.
And before anyone starts in on me about Democrat/Republican/Socialist, I voted None of the Above since I believe both are freaking morons and think everyone in America is at each others throats deciding which is better Syphilis or Gonorrhea.(technically I voted liberatarian but a vote for Lib is a vote for None of the Above)
I wasn't trying to sound arrogant. I apologize if I did sound that way. I just want people to know what I think. I don't much care for lots of things that the government does. I think they spend my money (and your money, and everyone else's money)entirely too freely. They act like it's THEIR money. I'm not the hardest working guy around, but I do work for that money and I don't feel like anyone else has a right to it. I give up close to a third of it now to various and sundry government entities. As far as my hypocrisy goes, If they'd just let me keep more of it in the first place, that wouldn't be an issue. I don't want to get more back at the expense of someone else, even if they do make more money than I do. That's be like me coming to your house and saying, "Hey Mike, I don't make as much money as you do. Never mind that my education and training don't qualify me for a field that makes as much as you do. How about cutting me a check?" In closing, if you voted Libertarian, I'm really proud of you. Libertarians like taxes and government spending and waste even less than I do.
