I thought feminism was about...

...being able to have kids AND a career if one chose to do so. Of course, I also thought the children of political candidates were off-limits to the media. Looks I've been proven wrong twice by the press corps. They have publicly speculated about Sarah Palin's ability to raise her children while campaigning for (and hopefully winning) the Vice-Presidency of the United States. Where were these questions when Nancy Pelosi or Barbara Boxer were running for their congressional seats or when Hillary Clinton was running the country from 1993-2001? Also, Bristol Palin's unwed pregnancy is big news to the same press corps that kowtowed to Bill and Hillary when they declared Chelsea's life to be (rightly so) off-limits to press coverage? You may say, "Well, Chelsea didn't get pregnant while she lived in the White House." To that, I reply "How would you know if she had?" Andrea Peyser of the NY Post has the same questions I do. She just writes better. The bottom line is this: Can Palin do the job? If so, nothing else matters.

You can't seriously want McCain to win? Palin's hot, but that's all she's got going for her. Being Republican doesnt mean you have to vote for any moron your party decides to throw up there. At one time Palin was in a group that wanted Alaska to secede from the US. Yeah.. I want that one step away from the presidency.

If you are a true American, you would boycott the elections. Or just write in Ric Flair. Both candidates suck monkey balls.

She has never been a member of the Alaska Indepedence Party. That was debunked by a number of sources yesterday. She's been a register Republican since 1982. As far as whether I want McCain to win, I guess I do. Given the choice of the two major candidates, there is no real choice. Obama's leftist policies will destroy an economy that, despite media reports to the contrary, is actually growing rather well. As far as boycotting the election, that's just not going to happen. I feel fortunate that I live in a country where I have a voice, so I cannot choose not to exercise it

I agree... you can never boycott the elections. It's the most important right we have. As for the politics, I actually think both candidates are intriguing. I think if either were running against past candidates, they would both win but because they are paired against each other, it makes for interesting politics.

On the issue of Palin's family and the media, I agree.
However, the Bristol Palin issue isn't about media coverage or what some other political figure might have done. It is about a candidate who said she was against sex education in schools and then had a very embarrassing example of the failure of that policy.
If someone were campaigning for no gun safety classes for hunters, and then their kid shot someone, would you blame the media for reporting it? Would you rally to their cause? Or would you step back and think that maybe that policy isn't the best way of doing things?

I'm not saying I agree with her on everything. I have yet to find the candidate who agrees with me on everything. She and I just agree on most things. And, as far as the sex ed issue goes, you're rigt. Her philosophy seems to have failed rather spectacularly right in her own back yard. However, having kids has convinced me of something: You do the best you can to impart the ethics and values you want them to have, but you can't be with them 24/7 to make sure that they follow your rules. In the end (and certainly by the time they're 17) they have to make the big decisions. I just bet that this pregnancy was not the result of ignorance about the possibility on either side. Anyway, my point is that Democrats have screamed ever since Lewinsky that these things are private personal matters, but when it benfits a Democratic candidate, a 17-year-old girls is attacked by the left-leaning press in an effort to destroy the candidacy of her mother. Stay classy, guys.

Guess i'm not seeing how Obama is gonna hurt our economy any more than it already is... If you hadn't noticed, its failing already right now. If you don't think it is, look at the banks and mortgage companies, one of the major cornerstones of our economy.

Of course, I'm still voting for Flair. Both of these people are weak.
