Am I really supposed to feel pity for the criminally stupid?

This is just one example:

Drunk taunts tiger, tiger wins fight

Every day it seems as though the very stupid want the rest of us to condone their stupidity by feeling pity for them when the consequences of their actions finally catch up to them. Maybe I just see it more often than others. I will admit to having done some dumb things, but I also have had to deal with the consequences. My new response to this desire for pity from the criminally stupid;

"Man, that sucks. Hate it for you."
